The UK is home to the world's largest and longest-running longitudinal studies.
CLOSER aims to maximise their use, value and impact both at home and abroad. Bringing together eight leading studies, the British Library and the UK Data Service, CLOSER aims to stimulate interdisciplinary research, develop shared resources, provide training, and share expertise. In this way CLOSER is helping to build the body of knowledge on how life in the UK is changing - both across generations and in comparison to the rest of the world. For more information, visit the CLOSER website.
The CLOSER wiki aims to provide information for both CLOSER Discovery users and technical users. CLOSER Discovery users will find detailed information which will aid the use of the search portal. Pages of interest are:
- CLOSER Discovery, which provides an introduction to the search portal.
- Known Issues, which flags any significant issues relating to CLOSER Discovery which we are aware of.
- The Content page and subpages which show which questionnaires are currently in CLOSER Discovery and those which are yet to be added.
- Topics, which describes the defined list of terms used to categorise the questions and variables in CLOSER Discovery.
The wiki also provides technical information about the software and standards used to generate CLOSER Discovery and provides procedural guidelines for the process involved in metadata production which others can follow.
