Step 3: Enter Questions

  1. On the Build page, click on Questions.

To enter a Question Item:

  1. Select +QUESTION ITEM to enter a new Question Item. The question item entry screen will appear.

  2. Enter the label for the question item in the Label field. All question labels begin with qi_. See Construct a Label for more details. Labels need to be unique. If a duplicate is created, an error message will appear and you will not be able to save the new question item.

  3. In the Instruction field, enter any instructions that might be separate from the question text.

  4. In the Literal field, enter the question text.

  5. Click on the + next to Response Domains to add a new response domain. It is possible to enter multiple response domains if necessary.

  6. Look down or type in the Label column to find your corresponding response domain. 

  7. Click Save to save your new question item. It will now appear in the left hand list with other question items and question grids and can be used to build Question Constructs.

  8. Return to the Build screen by selecting the option from the breadcrumb.

To Enter a Question Grid:

  1. Select Grid to enter a new Question Grid. The question grid entry screen will appear.

  2. Enter the label for the question grid in the Label field. See Construct a Label for more details.

  3. In the Instruction field, enter any instructions that might be separate from the question text.

  4. In the Literal field, enter the question text.

  5. Choose the X axis for your grid by selecting the code list previously made for this from the Horizontal (X) drop down menu.

  6. Choose the Y axis for your grid by selecting the code list previously made for this from the Horizontal (Y) drop down menu.

  7. (Optional) To add editable rows, enter as many rows as there are for the participant in the Roster Row Number field. You can label the first row by adding a Roster Label.

  8. (Optional) To add a top left corner label to your grid, ensure that you have first selected the appropriate code lists for your X and Y axes. Select the axis that represents your corner label. For more information, see Question Grids.

  9. To attach a response domain to your X axis as needed, select Add under Response Domains and select the response domain you need from the selection available. Add one for each column.

  10. Click Save to save your new question grid. It will now appear in the left hand list with other question items and question girds and can be used to build Question Constructs.

     11. Return to the Build screen by selecting the option from the breadcrumb.
