The teapot

Mr Li acquired a very beautiful teapot and put it on his bedside cabinet. One night, he dreamt that the lid fell on the ground and when he woke up he was both surprised and distressed. If the lid of the pot is broken, what use does the lid (still) have? So he picked up the teapot and threw it out of the window. In the morning, he discovered that the lid of the pot had fallen in his slipper and hadn't broken. He was full of regret. The pot was gone and what use is a lid with no pot? He was both regretful and angry, and smashed the lid by stamping on it. When he went out, he saw the teapot he had thrown out of the window the previous evening hanging intact on a tree branch and Mr Li was full of regret.
