的 De is used after adjectives longer than one syllable:

中国是个伟大的国家。 Zhōngguó shì ge wěidà de guójiā.
‘China is a great country.’

后海是个嘈杂的地方。 Hòuhǎi shì ge cáozá de dìfāng.
‘Houhai is a noisy area.’

其实他是一个热心的人。 Qíshí tā shì yí ge rèxīn de rén.
‘Actually he is a warm-hearted person.’

这次旅行是段美好的经历。 Zhè cì lǚxíng shì duàn měihǎo de jīnglì.
‘This trip was a beautiful experience.’

人民大会堂是个十分严肃的场所。 Rénmín Dàhuìtáng shì ge shífen yánsù de chǎngsuǒ.
‘The Great Hall of the People is an extremely solemn place.’

but not with One syllable adjectives.
