一朝被蛇咬,十年怕井绳。Yì zhāo bèi shé yǎo, shí nián pà jǐngshéng.

Literally means: "Once bitten by a snake, one shies at coiled ropes for ten years", or "one is scared by seeing a piece of well rope, or anything that looks like a snake".

English equivalent: “Once bitten, twice shy.”

Example sentences: 请不要一朝被蛇咬十年怕井绳,谁没做错过事情,接受教训就好了。
Qǐng bú yào yì zhāo bèi shé yǎo, shí nián shí nián pà jǐngshéng, shéi méi zuòcuò guo shìqing, jiēshòu jiàoxun jiù hǎole.
"Don't be once bitten twice shy, who does not make mistakes. If you learn a lesson from it, that should be fine."

请不要一朝被蛇咬, 十年怕井绳, 谁没遇到过倒霉的事情,下次小心就好了。
Qǐng bú yào yì zhāo bèi shé yǎo, shí nián pà jǐngshéng, shéi méi yùdào guo dǎoméi de shìqing. Xià cì xiǎoxīn jiù hǎole.
"Everybody experiences bad luck sometimes, you just need to be careful next time."
