遍 Biàn

For measuring the number of times of actions

遍 is similar to 次 cì. The slight difference is that 遍 emphasizes the process of an action, which is experienced from the beginning to the end.
‘read the notes once’

‘do it again’

Wǒ bú huì zài wèn dì-ér biàn de.
‘I will not ask a second time.’

Wǒmen bǎ zhè piān gǎozi zài guò yí biàn.
‘Let's go over the draft once again.’

Zhè bù diànyǐng tā hěn xǐhuān,kànle yí biàn yòu yí biàn.

Tā yǐjīng tuōle liǎng biàn dìbǎn,dàn háishì hěn zāng.

‘I have read this book many times.’
In this sentence, 遍 is rather noun-like.

N.B.

Sometimes the number of times of an action is used implicitly in the sentence in English. Then you need to add 遍 when saying it in Chinese.
