How to Export students' Email addresses from Grades in Moodle

This user guide provides step-by-step instructions for obtaining the data needed, namely students' usernames and email addresses, to complete the csv file needed to Batch Create blogs in Reflect. But should you need this data for other purposes then follow steps 1-7:

  1. Login to Moodle and click on your name in the top right corner of the screen.
  2. On the drop-down menu click on Grades.
  3. Assuming you are enrolled on any courses as a Tutor or Course Administrator then you will see the heading "Courses I am teaching"
  4. Under it, locate the course or space for which you want a Class blog and click on it.
  5. Under the "Grader report" heading near the top left of the screen click the Export tab.
  6. Select the Excel spreadsheet sub-tab.
  7. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on Download.
  8. Copy and paste the contents of the Email address column into the Username column of the csv file and delete the "@ucl.ac.uk" component of the email addresses from the Username column.
  9. Then, copy and paste the contents of the Email address column into the User Email column of the csv file.

Caution: If you have already added the Site name and/or Site title to the csv file you may need to sort the spreadsheets before copying over content to ensure the right student is added to the right blog if they will be working on individual or group blogs.
