Now that you have a new Moodle course, you need to decide how you are going to organise it. UCL has a set of baseline requirements for each Moodle course which you will want to refer to, together with some more in-depth guidance for enhancing your course. This page provides guidance on how to edit your new Moodle course, add or remove the blocks that appear in the left and right columns on your main course page and add additional activities and resources.

  1. To learn how to get started with Moodle read Moodle Miniguide M01
  2. Fill in the title of your course in the very first topic block (see Moodle Miniguide 02)
  3. At the top of your Moodle course, we recommend you add links to:
    • Module outline
    • Module handbook
    • Reading List
  4. Fill in titles for each topic (see Moodle Miniguide 02)
  5. Remove any blocks you no longer want
  6. Add any additional blocks
  7. Add other tutors or Course Administrators, so they can also edit the Moodle course (see Staff Access)
  8. Decide how to enrol students on your course - for large cohorts, we always recommend using automatic Portico enrolments
  9. Make your course available to your students
