张 zhāng

For measuring thin, flat things, like paper and skin:

一张纸 yì zhāng zhǐ
'a piece of paper'
'a sheet of paper'

一张地图 yì zhāng dìtú
‘a map’

两张画 liǎng zhāng huà
‘two paintings’

三张木板 sān zhāng mùbǎn
‘three boards’

一张皮 yì zhāng pí
‘a skin, a piece of leather’

他从笔记本上撕下一张纸。 Tā cóng bǐjìběn shàng sīxià yì zhāng zhǐ.
‘He tore a sheet of paper from his notebook.’

这是一张伦敦地图。 Zhè shi yì zhāng Lúndūn dìtú.
‘This is a map of London.’

“你知道这是谁画的吗?”他指着一张画问。 “Nǐ zhīdao zhè shi shéi huà de ma?” Tā zhǐzhe yì zhāng huà wèn.
‘He pointed to a painting and asked “Do you know who painted this?”.’

你可以用胶水将三张木板粘在一起。 Nǐ kěyǐ yòng jiāoshuǐ jiāng sān zhāng mùbǎn zhān zài yìqǐ.
‘You can join the three boards with glue.’
Note that 将 in this sentence is a formal equivalent of 把 bǎ. It moves the verb's object in front of the verb.

这本书的封面是一张皮。Zhè běn shū de fēngmiàn shi yì zhāng pí.
‘The cover of this book is a piece of leather.’

一只饺子由馅和一张皮组成。Yì zhī jiǎozi yóu xiàn hé yì zhāng pí zǔchéng.
‘A dumpling consists of the filling and a skin.’

For measuring furniture which has flat surfaces:

一张床 yì zhāng chuáng
‘a bed’

一张桌子 yì zhāng zhuōzi
‘a table’

她的房间里有一张床,一张桌子和一把椅子。 Tā de fángjiān lǐ yǒu yì zhāng chuáng, yì zhāng zhuōzi hé yì bǎ yǐzi.
‘There is a bed, a table and a chair in her room.’

For measuring bows:

一张弓 yì zhāng gōng
‘a bow’

他带着一张弓外出打猎。 Tā dàizhe yì zhāng gōng wàichū dǎliè.
‘He goes hunting with a bow.’

For measuring faces and mouths

Apparently these also count as flat things.

一张脸 yì zhāng liǎn
‘a face’

一张嘴 yì zhāng zuǐ
‘a mouth’

你有没有看见一张脸? Nǐ yǒu méi yǒu kànjian yì zhāng liǎn?
‘Have you seen a face?’

你有两只耳朵和一张嘴。 Nǐ yǒu liǎng zhī ěrduo hé yì zhāng zuǐ.
‘You have two ears and a mouth.’
