谈得来 / 谈不来 Tándelái / tánbulái

The basic idea is ‘get on’. Note that this is not usually translated with 'can' in English.

我们很谈得来,每次见面都聊好久。 Wǒmen hěn tándelái, měi cì jiànmiàn dōu liáo hǎo jiǔ.
‘We get along well and chat for so long each time we meet.’

他是个很有想法的人,你跟他去聊聊,看看谈得来谈不来。 Tā shì ge hěn yǒu xiǎngfǎ de rén, nǐ gēn tā qù liáoliao, kànkàn tándelái tánbulái.
‘He is an ideas man; go and talk with him and see if you can get along with him (or not).’

我跟她谈不来,经常话不投机。 Wǒ gēn tā tánbulái, jīngcháng huà bú tóujī.
‘She and I do not get on well and we often mistime our remarks.’
