What is a wiki?

Wikis provide a simple, intuitive way of creating group-authored webpages, such as Wikipedia-style repositories of knowledge. They are useful for collaborative projects and make it easy share information. You can view changes made by different users or rollback to previous versions.

The UCL Wiki is not just one wiki, the Confluence software has the capability of creating many "wiki spaces" for groups of UCL users. Additionally, staff users have the ability to maintain their own "personal wiki space". For more information please refer to the Wiki Service Definition and to the wiki documentation: About the UCL Wiki

Information Systems pre-pilot begins today

The UCL wiki pre-pilot begins today. Members of Information Systems can request a space and begin testing today. The new central wiki service is expected to be launched in September 2008.
The invitation to test Confluence currently extends only to IS staff. A group of UCL users will begin piloting the wiki in June. If you have any pilot suggestions you are welcome to forward them to wiki-support@ucl.ac.uk.

All members of UCL IS staff can access the wiki (log in using your UCL userid and password) and can begin using personal wiki spaces. Personal spaces are created automatically.
Until the service is fully launched (Autumn Term 2008) members of UCL IS Staff can apply for a wiki space, alternatively IS staff can speak to a wiki space owner to have access to an existing space. Members of the wider UCL community should contact wiki-support@ucl.ac.uk if they would like to particpate in the June pilot.

IS staff are welcome to provide comments on the pre-pilot service on the Confluence Wiki Feedback page.

For more information please refer to the Wiki Service Definition or contact wiki-support@ucl.ac.uk
