文 on its own is wén and originally meant 'written language'.

It may also mean language generally.

蚊 is still wén, but means 'mosquito'.
虫 Chóng is 'insect'; originally a picture of a snake.
The Traditional character had three of them: 蟲.

纹 is still wén, but means 'line, mark'.

坟 Fén is a grave. 土 Tǔ is 'earth'. Traditional character: 墳
