The word for 'also', yě, is written with 也.
Write the horizontal stroke with the hook down first. Then write the short vertical stroke in the middle and finally write the vertical stroke that hooks round to the right.
The characters for ‘he’ 他 tā and ‘she’ 她 tā also use this element with 人 rén man on the left for 'he' and 女 nǚ 'woman' on the left for 'she'.
